An installation variation of a piece I exhibited in Korea, taking an alternative approach with mediums. Statement: We live in a world of constant opposites that eventually find ways to unite in harmony. Nature is one of these examples, as the sky and earth build one vast land for us to live on. Identity is another, for me personally, as a Korean born in the USA. Korean culture does not fully exist in this land, so I had to rely on some way to ground myself other than my family. Something I’ve learned and resonate with is the art we’ve cultivated with specific values, referring to the crowns of Silla. The ancient values in nature and the spiritual have translated to my current personal beliefs, as my love for the intangible inspires my work. I perceive nature to create a bridge, physically and symbolically, for us no matter where we are. 우리는 결국 조화롭게 연합할 방법을 찾는 끊임없는 반대의 세계에 살고 있습니다. 자연은 이러한 예 중 하나 입니다. 하늘과 땅은 우리가 살아갈 수 있는 하나의 광대한 땅을 만듭니다. 개인적으로 미국에서 태어난 한국인이라는 정체성은 또 다른 것입니다. 이 땅에는 한국 문화가 완전히 존재하지 않기 때문에 가족 외에 다른 방법으로 기반을 마련해야 했습니다. 제가 배우고 공감하는 것은 신라의 왕관을 참고로 우리가 구체적인 가치를 가지고 키워온 예술입니다. 무형의 것에 대한 나의 사랑이 내 작업에 영감을 주면서 자연과 영적인 것의 고대 가치가 나의 현재 개인적인 신념으로 바뀌었습니다. 나는 자연이 우리가 어디에 있든 우리를 위해 물리적으로나 상징적으로 다리를 만들어 준다고 인식합니다. 9.17.24
